A continuation of the brave little abacus aesthetic. Whether you like or or not, the band went for
it and doesn't give a fuck.
Edit (03/12/20): I listened to this album while recovering from a major surgery. I can no longer
listen to Dallas without thinking about waking up in the middle of the night alone and in pain,
and calling a nurse to administer morphine so I can go back to sleep. Or looking in the mirror at
my giant scar, tracing down along the staples, and thinking that no one will ever find me
attractive again. They say the most important albums are the ones that get you through your life's
worst lows. In this case I have to agree. This album is very important to me, and I hope it helps
out some of you guys too. Bumping to classic tier.

This album is all over the place sonically, and that's why it's so good. It makes you feel like you are some angsty kid in Mario 64.

Every now and then there will be an album that will come out of nowhere for me and just click with me. This is one of those, and despite only listening to it a few times so far it just hits all the right spots for me.

Great music, bad vocals. Even for punk, where my allowance for pitchy vocals is elevated, this guy just strikes some really awkward balance between Motion City Soundtrack and Relient K. Maybe it'll grow on me, but right now it's frustrating to listen to an obviously superb album get butchered by a guy whose scratchy squeals sound woefully out of place on such a pretty synth/ambient punk album.

Contrary to everyone else apparently, I don't
mind the vocals. They are extremely whiny, but
it kinda, sorta works. They do get grating at
times, but they aren't overall bad. Bedroom
community is a fucking bop.

In terms of vision, blimey. In terms of execution, eh. Not that the performances are bad per se; rather, it's in the way the album loses itself in an always-flowing approach. Ideas are thrown into the mix without feeling connected to one another. We're being left with a messy album with cool and uncool moments fighting for attention. Also the vocals aren't gud. 3.0

No one expected it (and so much the better), but The First Glass Album is an amazing show and musical experience. It's multi-genre, not so innovative, but their creativity, energy, ideas and identity have successfully merged to create such an atypical vision. In addition, they offer us tracks with a beautiful depth, on which there are so many things to discover. Glass Beach also shows that without apprehension, you can totally free yourself to do a few strong things, and that's good because it suits them so well. It should be pointed out that it is a great achievement today to release a very good album of 60 minutes in its entirety.

Falling somewhere between broadway show tunes, DIY Punk and Bedroom-Pop, everything about this record feels massive and layered, like a proper Punk-themed musical and I'm living for it.

Lovely diverse and creative debut with lots and lots of high points and good ideas, but that hardly ever manages to sustain them for more than three minutes without something coming up to ruin the party. The vox often sounds naive and can be annoying. The record mixes a lot of stuff whilst remaining somewhat cohesive which is good to see, but I won't attempt to really describe it. 1 is kinda cute once the drums kick in but eh, 3 is a lovely interlude, 5 is a cool indie rock jam, 6 is kinda bouncy and Speed of Sound in Seawater-esque, 7 is a cool glitchy interlude, on 8 they go more aggressive which is cool at first but quickly gets annoying, 10's first half is kind of a jam with a lovely tone but the track goes to crap in its second part, 11 is sweet, 12's intro is a jam with a bouncy bass bu the vox ruins the bulk of the track. 14 is bouncy and cute, and would have been a better finale than 15 - although I commend the intent to have a proper finale. I'd love to see this played live. I'll come back to bits of this, but the album can't reach the ranks of favourite. 3.65
