It's genuinely baffling to me that this bold, lush, creative, and powerful album is from the same person that I saw open for Swans five years ago and get drowned out by audience chatter.

The opening two are nice. The rest are unfinished half songs with lots of layers and nice sounds to hide that they're unfinished.

In addition to having transformed and developed his music (which was already of a very high level) to offer us a majestic album, one of the best of this year, Angel Olsen has given way to his dark and spiritual side to become a kind of enchanting witch capable of controlling everyone. Everything is fantastic here, the orchestration and production sublimate the voice and melodies sung by Angel. It is remarkable to see how these styles dating from the 60s (Chamber Pop, Pop Baroque and Psychédélic) can still evolve, bed and offer us albums so incredible year after year. With this one, Angel Olsen seems to have reached his peak

Who would've thought the Angel Olsen that released Strange Cacti would throw away the beauty
of her voice four albums later... almost as if she wanted to push this ugliness to the surface and
let the ornate instrumentation chafe its clarity. It took some listens to get used to it and appreciate
the change - but damn, she did it again. So incisive, so visceral, my raw nerves are all tangled up.

The exact kind of album causing me to think: it's very good, but I want more. The songs are good, so are the string arrangements, but it would benefit from a denser, lusher, more fucking bombastic production. Give this Titanic Rising's production. 3.5

I like it! Interesting change of pace for Angel, since some tracks here remind me of early gothic
like from Dead Can Dance, which is certainly a surprise. Songwriting-wise the album can't quite
keep up with its predecessor, but that it makes up with just heavenly string arrangements. Also
the production is flawless! Most tracks are great, but especially I enjoy the closer "Chance".

One of the most successful stylistic leaps forward of the year for a popular artist coming off an excellent string of previous releases. It doesn't take long before you realize that you are not going to get the folk/rock/pop that Angel produced wonderfully in the past. Instead you get an album focused around her vocals, almost more than ever, and most importantly string sections that rival any in recent pop releases. Taken together, All Mirrors provides so much beautiful atmosphere which is often lonely, ethereal and bittersweet but becomes lush and decadent at times when the strings really turn up. On top of this, Angel continues to produce wonderful vocal melodies to guide you through this fresh art pop landscape; her voice is just stunning here. Not as re-playable as her past releases but it is rather obvious she was aiming to create something on a grander scale and it is clear she succeeded at that goal.
