4.5 superb | TwigTW | March 25th 14 | Can never listen to ''Carpet Crawlers'' just once, always two or three times in a row... We've got to get in to get out... We've got to get in to get out... We've got to get in to get out...

4.0 excellent | btati | November 12th 15 | A very ambitious concept record at the height of internal conflict within the band involving Peter Gabriel's growing popularity, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is essentially Gabriel's great story telling through music. The lyrics tell a very complex story and the music matches the moments told throughout the album. Where I feel this album is not good is in the instrumental section. There is hardly any of the great Steve Hackett guitar work that I enjoyed greatly on the previous 3 albums, too much Tony Banks, and too much filler. I understand these shorter songs do push the story along but the complexity of music that I enjoy hearing from Genesis is not shown too much on this album. I liked all of the longer songs quite a bit and I still feel that it is a very great album and worth checking out.

4.5 superb | TheIntruder | September 2nd 15 | The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is largely a Gabriel concept and represents his swansong with Genesis. It is a pity that after this great album Gabriel had to leave the band. However, in a every way, it is a considerable and lasting achievement work and it will be always a milestone in the entire band work. It represents also a milestone in terms of double concept albums. They had gone as far as they could together. What would have been Genesis if Gabriel remained in the group? We never know. The true is that with The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, Gabriel left the band through the large door.

4.0 excellent | mandan | February 16th 13 | The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is an interesting concept album which also happens to be the swansong of Gabriel Era Genesis. Although I won't argue that it is indeed a solid album, I don't quite consider it as perfect as others claim. While the first disc is flawless, the second disc has a bit of filler which makes the experience a bit dull. Also, I feel the band is rather restrained here, somewhat sacrificing all-out musicianship in favor of the grand-scale concept. That being said, I highly suggest any prog fan who hasn't heard this to do so ASAP and come to his/her own conclusions.

4.5 superb | iSkane | February 22nd 11 | This album is a pure beast. A behemoth in terms of both length and concept. The last album that the Gabriel Genesis brought to us, and quite honestly, the best. Whether the concept came to Gabriel in a dream, or he was just this crazy, the album came out beautifully. Every song brings out what Genesis got right in their previous albums. There couldn't be a better way to spend an hour and a half.

4.0 excellent | Progmaster85 | January 16th 10 | A 90 minute story in the form of an impressive album. People do tend to overrate this album, for me, it's hit and miss. The vocals flow poorly in each song but the instrumental aspects are at the top of their game. The album itself flows effortlessly but some ideas just don't work. Still awesome though, yet I prefer Selling England, Foxtrot and even Nursery Cryme.

4.5 superb | BillyBrill | September 27th 22 | Incredible story obviously, hugely abstract and didactic, but I can?t help but feel like the music itself becomes blander than selling England by the pound or foxtrot, for the sake of getting across the story?s narration

4.5 superb | ExoskeletalJunction | February 2nd 22 | 22nd January, 2022: Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (progressive rock, 1975)
It’s kind of insane to think that once I didn’t like this. Like, really didn’t like it. I deleted
it from my library, thinking I never would.
It was Steve Hackett’s Genesis Revisited II that opened these songs up to me - and the ones I love
here are almost all those from that re-recording. But of course, that one doesn’t have Mr Gabriel.
This is truly his Genesis record, and it’s no surprise that he decided to bow out shortly after -
what more could he do within the framework of progressive rock? This is their most melancholic and
soulful album, with some of the melodies being absolutely heartbreaking, and the pomp doesn’t get
in the way of conveying the emotional core. It is too long, as is every double album, but the more
I listen to it, the less I care. At this point, it’s probably my favourite, of both Genesis and
Gabriel.

5.0 classic | Deadwing2112 | April 18th 20 | The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is an ambitious concept double LP largely written by Peter Gabriel with the musical score composed by his bandmates. This was a break in tradition with the more communal approach to the band's songwriting routine and although the results are astonishing, it contributed to the departure of the lyricist. This fantastical fable accounts for the salvation of Rael, a gang member guilty of an unmentioned violent crime. This initiates a gritty journey that is rather purgative and cruel; involving loss of identity, dehumanization, sexual molestation, castration and a life risking attempt to save his brother from drowning, only to realize John was actually Rael. The concluding fate of the central character is left ambiguous purposefully. The band is far more expansive in sound compared to previous albums and particular noteworthy, Tony Banks' keyboards begin to hint of a more pop synthesizer nature to be heavily featured in the post Gabriel era of Genesis. This would be the last album to feature the classical lineup of the band.

They told me the record was perfect and I persisted listening to it - to discover beautiful and exciting songs.
