i guess i don't care for vocals that much when it comes to anything emo anyways, but seriously, you're missing out on a damn great record if you're letting just the vocals get to you

i wonder if when Jerome's Dream released their earlier work their vocals were similarly derided, though for different reasons ("too strident" "too whiny" "too whiny") only to gain favour with age and cult; i wouldn't be surprised either if the echoey anhedonic vocal juxtaposition with impeccable post-hardcore doesn't age more like wine than beer exposed to light, in spite of the latters beautiful colour. gr8 album idk

I can't recall the last time I heard an album where the vocal performance quite nearly sabotaged the whole thing to the extent it does here.

This has been a weird album to think about. Being a big fan of Presents (their second album), I definitely don't mind the vocal style. But those vocals don't fit in as well with this music as it did with Presents. Both from a songwriting standpoint and production. Instrumentally, though, it has a handful of high points. It's better when it's slower and sinister. It's decent, all things considered.

Coming off of “Presents”, JD returns over a decade later to deliver “LP.” Instrumentals are great, the musicianship
is there all the way through but the vocals fall flat in comparison making for a lukewarm experience. Also, much
more of a post hardcore album than anything they have released in the past. Still good
though.

Killer stuff. Vocals are obviously bland and tuneless, but who cares when the music is this good.

I wish the vocals were a bit more dynamic, but the instrumentals stay interesting enough to carry this. A real lesson in how beautiful dissonance can be, I could listen to guitar work like this for a while without getting bored.
