Although they only released one proper album, Deadguy's influence on the Metalcore genre was massive. The sound that they pioneered on 1995's Fixation on a Coworker has gone on to spawn thousands of imitators. Even bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Botch and Coalesce all got their start emulating Deadguy. It was the We Are the Romans before We Are the Romans. Anyone who was anyone wanted to sound like Deadguy. With its complex dissonant arrangements, superb musicianship and sharp and powerful vocals Fixation on a Coworker remains just as cripplingly heavy as it did when it first came out. If you like Metalcore, all of your favorite bands have made a living ripping this off for years. Check it out.

"Fixation on a Coworker" is a step further for the extreme music that was already being included in the Hardcore, next to the Grindcore that already had this tendency since the end of the 80's. Deadguy was a totally unknown band for me, and after a lot of research i've discovered this work. The cover art deceives well and even frightens about the carelessness and little case of the band in the matter of the creativity. But the music itself, accounts for all the message that wanted to be there. Essence hardcore is only really visualized in this heavier vertex that came in the 90's.

Strong 4 - The Band who's sound influenced everyone. If I had to choose only one band from 90's metalcore, who's production and guitar playing is the most influential, I would always say Deadguy. Deadguy's sound was complex, precise and relentless. Furious drumming, complex yet memorable riffing, dark sinister production and structure full of tempo changes. The only thing that divided me from giving this a 4.5 were the vocals, they are sharp and they complement the music well, yet I always wish, they were more animalistic and more MEMORABLE
