4.5 superb | spanndrew58 | August 17th 19 | Finally, fresh take on ?post metal?. Not for a second do we hear the tribal drums, brooding atmosphere, or classic ?build up to climax? moments made popular by Neurosis or Isis. Instead the listener is treated to colorful leads, bright atmosphere, and a sense of melody that never comes off as out of place despite its complete absence in the rest of the genre.

3.9 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | October 25th 23 | Conjurer and Pijn pair up for a much more uplifting take on slow pounding metal than usual for them (at least for Conjurer lol). That's because of these fucking beautiful leads and the general harmonisation happening on the guitars. It's still crushing sludgy shit, but one that's surprisingly wholesome :]

4.0 excellent | Bedex | November 7th 20 | A post-metal album that is really, really cool and exciting in some aspects, but doesn't feel like it quite matches the potential of its ideas and is hindered quite consistently by vocals that are okay but not so great, except in a few harsher sections like the shortest track 3. Every single track has an excellent intro, and the album intro is particularly top tier; by the post- book, but brilliantly done. Despite the meh clean vox, there's lots to be loved here with a bmey surprise and a lovely bridge in the second third. 2 offers darker and fatter riffage, and 4 has again a particularly cool intro with great bass work, but they could have done away with the vocals frankly and the finale feels a bit underwhelming and uninspired for an album that has so many melodic ideas. Makes you want to check out the bands' future outputs though, because they've got some solid stuff in them - I'm not sure who did what on this but it feels like one coherent band I'd say. 3.8

3.5 great | PistolPete | September 13th 19 | This is basically Baroness if they had stayed metal and didn't suck ass like they do now.

4.0 excellent | Chino smoking it up! | September 13th 19 | Conjurer hand in hand with Pijn went full Post and unexpectedly uplifting. This was very beautiful. It really makes the name High Spirits fairness. People mentioned Baroness, but I'm getting vibes from Mastodon's EP Cold Dark Place.

4.0 excellent | Robert Davis | September 5th 19 | One of the best collaborations I can think of in recent times. The musicianship here is brilliant and even at its heaviest moments the mood is strangely uplifting and each song leaves you feeling refreshed. Please don't let this project be a flash in the pan.
