A mixture of various Radiohead eras, Anima mostly focuses on juxtaposing several layers of bleep bloops, slowly developing in unanticipated ways, which is ultimately what allows it to overcome the overall subdued nature of the record.

Feels great to have Thom back to his dystopian OK Computer/Kid A roots, with really great lyrics and electronic instrumentals that fits him very well, much better than in KOL actually. Dawn Chorus is one of the greatest songs he's ever written.

For some people, this is the first time that the solo work of a band member, reaches the same level of quality as their other work. And I hope there's more to come for us.

The album starts off with "Traffic", my least favourite song here. I just cannot stand these obnoxious snares that come in during the chorus. But the album takes a quick turn with the next three tracks, in my opionion its best. "Twist" is amazing, and "Dawn Chorus" is just gorgeous. The remaining songs, while not incredible, are still decent, with "Impossible Knots" sticking out for me. Also worth mentioning is the great production work done here. Everything sounds super crisp and clean. All in all a nice listen, a good 7/light 8 from me.

When you are in the mood for this album, it delivers you with a wall of sound and a full experience I've been wanting to hear from Thom in quite some time. This is a headphone experience that leaves you wanting more.

Accompanied by his teammate and producer Nigel Godrich, Thom Yorke offers us a fantastic, modern and philosophical album. The thematic idea on Dystopia is very interesting, well developed, well exploited, and the whole album is very well written. Musically it is tasty, minimalist and particularly beautiful. Anima may finally be the best electronic album of the year (even if it's just as Pop), because it's both homogeneous and diversified, where each track is important and none is negligible. The perfect equation.
