The album I had absolutely no idea was happening but the album I very much needed. David
Berman is back and on top of his game. The masterful songwriter returns to familiar but
rejuvenated thematic territory - songs soaked with solitary self-reflection, penned with
his trademark black humor and wit; the perfect soundtrack to wandering unfamiliar streets
by yourself in a foreign country, to sitting at a bar nearing closing time, contemplating
making that phone call but ultimately deciding against it, to writing in a cheap motel room
but scrapping everything and going to bed, unsatisfied but not defeated.
