I miss Chan's (sorry, "Lord Worm's") review of this record. It was, hands down, one of the funniest ones in the history of this site, paired up to an unbelievable hilarious bad synth-goth album. But since this William Control stuff -and by "stuff", I mean "sex cult"- came out to be way more fucked up than we ever thought, I understand why this review and his other Aiden reviews are gone. Long live Lord Worm.

Over the years, WiL Francis has tampered with horror punk and post-hardcore music like the sleazy Goth doofus that he truly is. William Control is a side project demonstrating his methods of ruining whatever traits make the entire electronica genre so appealing while singing mortifyingly atrocious lyrics; you know, at least with Aiden, that group had one or two releases which were decent at best. Hate Culture is William Control's debut album, but it sure as fuck doesn't leave a good impression at all.

William Control's debut packs just about everything from downright terrible synthetics, mediocre vocals, laughably tasteless and abhorrent lyricism all packed in a little goth-industrial style way, there is almost nothing positive to be found in here, and this almost completely conveys that this side project was created for shock value and nothing more.

To begin William Control's debut LP 'Hate Culture', Wil Francis states "I do not want you to like me". Request granted! Sounding unlike his main band Aiden, Francis' bizarre curse-filled side-project delves into electronica, with everything from synth-pop to industrial explored. It's all infused with his usual gothic tendencies that include consistently cringeworthy lyrics. In fact, he stoops lower here as the sleazy sex & death themes become repulsive. It's not unlistenable to & there are some decent synth melodies, but this is ultimately a failed experiment. Recommended Tracks: Beautiful Loser & Cemetery.

Probably one of the worst albums of 2008. It's decent that wiL is trying to explore other areas of music but next time he should make it GOOD. Or better yet, just not put anything else out, either by himself or with Aiden. The lyrics are terrible, the music is terrible, the single is enough to judge this by, and its godawful.
