On the one hand, Hey Monday has some really catchy, cool songs. On the other hand, so does Miley Cyrus. After listening to 3 or 4 of the songs, you'll be bored numb.
With that said, the song Homecoming is WICKED catchy. The perfect guilty pleasure song. If it weren't for that song, my rating would be a 1.
p.s. 6604: i don't think these guys are "shameless Paramore rip-offs" at all. If you did a little research on the band, you'd know the members knew each other and wanted to start a band LONG before Paramore existed. And their sound is actually quite different: Paramore is just a heck of a lot better.

Can't say I was excited when this gem arrived in the mail. Pete Wentz should be named "most shameless man in show biz" for this one... on top of the whole FNMTV thing and, well, his own spotlight-chewing self. "Hold on Tight" is a shameless rip off of everything Paramore, except surprisingly worse. DON'T buy this album if you want a hint originality in your music. DON'T buy this album if you are over 12. DON'T buy this album if you have any respect for yourself. And please, pleeease DON'T buy this album and tell me how awesome it is; I do NOT want to hear your opinions. They are not valid at this point. Popular music has dipped this low, it is true. How about we let the money-sucking-attention-grabbing-pop culture whores keep their shitty music. Or maybe we're all too numb to notice. Hey Monday gives me the a blue feeling of the Mondays; ironic, no?

Hey Monday's debut can be described with one word: Paramore-lite. The singles are the only decent cuts, overall the album is extremely forgettable, not even interesting enough to be a good guilty pleasure, and the musicianship is awful even for a simple pop-rock band. Stick with Hayley and the gang for now.

The only reason I'm not rating this album lower is because the band has an extremely tight live show. Otherwise, it's the same old same old.

Hold On Tight is the type of album released by the type of band who exist only because they feel the need to pander to the accessible crowd. Hey Monday's debut is by no means a bad record, seeing as how Cassadee Pope's vocals coupled with the tracks here are pretty good for what they are. Sadly the group's efforts come close to being in vain, due to the ideas having been executed better in the past.

The only reason I give it such a high rating is because of Cassadee Pope's vocals. Great sound and range. The songs are pretty generic and poppy, but they are very catchy. Overall, a decent CD that is fun to listen to; just not over-and-over.
