'Don't light my fire' is one of the best hardcore punk songs I have ever heard, bar none. Fun, angry, chaotic, noisy. Otoboke Beaver just seem to have an incredible knack for riffing when they need to riff and wander off onto whacky tangents always at just the right time. The whackyness just ends up setting up the next riff/chorus/chant up so well and the energy of this record will beat you down even in just a 26 minute runtime. Otoboke Beaver also fit so much great content into sub 3 minute songs with at times 4+ sections developing in a track that all feel purposeful and necessary to the overall vision. It is wonderful. It feels like one of the most out of left albums of recent memory its a gift from the hardcore/punk gods.

If you get bored, think and listen to Itekoma Hits, because with this album, it was as if I was an apple tree that you shake to drop the fruit, or the punching bag that you hit without interruption. This album is so full of energy, it seems that the band has a lot of energy to add to their end of the month. There is the perfect dose of fun, humour, subliminal messages. This emerging Japanese punk scene has nothing to be ashamed of, it is in its place with its own identity. And with satirical titles like "Introduce me to your Family", when you know the culture and serious attitude that families are in Japan, I imagine the singer would arrive like a fury for a first presentation, it's crazy.

Furious japanese punk, and yeah it's as awesome as it seems. If Haru to Shura is the entry to J-Pop, this is a great first encounter with J-Punk, and once again done by girls not giving a single fuck. It's fast, angry, anthemic and fun as hell. Leaning towards the fury a band like Melt-Banana brings to the table rather than the straight up hardcore cliches, this record is, more than just another Japanese curiosity, a refreshing take on hardcore punk.
