This is the sexiest album I've ever heard. Have you ever liked a record so much on the first listen that you bought tickets to the tour before you finished hearing the whole thing? Neither had I until today.

This is every bit as consistently excellent as Emotion was. Sure, the highs aren't quite as high as something like "Run Away With Me" or "Your Type," but when the music itself is this stupidly catchy it's easy to call Dedicated another runaway success.

After the 2015 masterclass EMOTION it is hard to not call this the most anticipated pop album for the year 2019. Although it doesn't top its predecessor it shows that Carly Rae Jepsen is here to stay and is able to successfully expand her style with some more disco and dance influence blended into her synthpop sound. Right off the bat, there are a lot of great to SOTY candidate level tracks here. Julien, Want You in My Room and No Drug Like Me are SS+ tier essentials. Now That I Found You, Too Much and Happy Not Knowing are also very nice. The problem here is the album is like 1.5 tracks too long. Throw in a ballad, a slow track, something to break up the disco-synth-dance barrage. Right around the point where you hit Automatically In Love it feels like time to wrap things up and the quality of the songs noticeably drops compared to the bonafide bangin' first 9 songs. The other major issue is Carly has now released like... 40 straight songs about relationships, with few exceptions. She does it better than anyone else at the moment but surely there is something else to address thematically? It is hard to imagine not listening to this an unhealthy amount of times but in the end it just doesn't have the masterful album flow and track/vocal/instrumental variation that EMOTION and EMOTION: Side B had.

Oh yeah Carly you're so full of bops and bangers. Can't believe 2019 was the year I rated a Carly album higher than a National one.

fun pop music from the "call me mayie girl" seriously though, I do appreciate this given the well...current horrible trends in pop music. this album is rather straightforward and simplistic in it just being, well several fun pop songs. there might be no depth to it other than that, but that does not change the album succeeds in what it sets out to do

Continuing the explorations seen on Emotions Side B, the early record is full of ideas but consistently seems to fall flat and often fails to feel either catchy, bouncy, sexy, or whatever else pop can be. She is obviously having fun, experimenting and maturing from the naive teenager pop to blend in more of a personality which is nice to see, but execution isn't always perfect. The songs are all very short, which is good on poor tracks but also makes the good tracks feel like they just slip by. The opener overextends a bit but is a nice track. 3 is a nice champagne pool party track and is kinda jammy tbh. 6 really shows what I mean by the record struggling to resonate with me. 8 has nice RnB track but the chorus is a bit eh. 9 has a lovely piano loop but I felt it'd be better used on a different kind of album - it works though. By 10 my rating was going to be something like 2.9, but 11-15 really take it up a notch. Carly goes back to more straightforward synthy summer pop, but without fully abandoning the ideas of the first two thirds of the record, and it just works better. 11-12 and 14 are very cool, and 13 is a kinda basic summer jam. 15 does fall a bit flat like the early record, but works well as an end of the movie/credits type of album closer and warrants this the last point it needed. Will have to re-listen to see if I prefer this or Emotion. 3.3

One of the Electro Pop icons Carly Rae Jepsen gave us another good album. Although it doesn't match Emotions, Dedicated has good pop songs overall. After that for me there are too many forgettable moments and there is no attempt at innovation, not even a sigh. On the other hand, the power and size of its fan base is remarkable

The Queen of Canada returns with another great pop record. While not quite reaching the heights of "Emotion," this record is excellent. All the singles are 100% worth your time, as well as "Everything He Needs" and "Want You In My Room."

This essentially feels like Emotion 2.0 in a lot of ways, which isn't a bad thing. The album
finds itself in a grey area between being well-produced and overly produced though, and
there's maybe one or two songs I could've done without. Those things aside, it's catchy and
fun and a great follow up to Emotion.
