Despite the cheesy, at times, vocals, this album is a milestone in instrumental rock, and it's hard to dispute Eric's guitar talents.

Anyone with a thing for guitar virtuosos should give this a listen. Along with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen, Johnson is one of the most important guitarrists ever to come out of the shred boom of the mid-to-late eighties. This is his landmark album, and one of the best instrumental guitar albums you'll hear. Warning: Johnson isn't a shredder, by any means, his playing is more based on feeling, so this isn't an album for those with a more straightforward taste (you can hear Malmsteen for that).

Featuring the well known Cliffs of Dover and that track alone makes this worthwhile, but the tracks with vocals are also great, like Desert Rose, which balances the standard songwriting with great guitar playing. Other highlights are Trademark, Forty Mile Town, and High Landrons. Not all of that quality but if you enjoy any virtuosos, Eric should be one of them.
