Is it bad that I kind of find this album brilliant? TRAUMA offers the listener a unique experience where no two songs sound the same...a sort of hodgepodge of rock music that might throw fans of their older material off. Opener "Bow Down" is a deception; while a good track, it certainly doesn't paint the picture of what the rest of the album will offer. No, I Prevail decide to experiment frequently in TRAUMA. "Paranoid" utilizes more electronic sounds melded with some rapping, "Every Time You Leave" is that radio-rock song from 2007 that you have appreciation for to this day, and "Rise Above It" is a fun, hard-hitting song. "Breaking Down" REALLY tries to go for the 'trap' sound, and it kind of nails it. There's a lot of people who will probably be thrown off by this song's style...but I Prevail keep experimenting and trying new things each song, and it makes for a truly fun listen. The rest of album kind of plays out this way too, with the song "Hurricane" being a catchy/delightful piece, and "Deadweight" offering a dosage of metalcore for listeners that stuck around. "Low" is ironically the lowest point of the album being semi-boring...but overall TRAUMA succeeds in being different. It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much.

I was a massive fan of their debut album. Of course, being 15 at the time, I've mostly outgrown it
over the years but I still come back to it for nostalgia every now and then. But this, I honestly
don't know what they were thinking. It's not terrible. Like other people are saying, there are
some damn good songs on here, but they're outnumbered by generic lyrics and boring pop melodies.

Not gonna lie, this album is... just okay. Some really good songs and some extremely catchy melodies. Some interesting choices of musical direction in half of the songs, but doesn?t get too bad. Overall, very average.

album reminds me of Fever 333, good vocalists, good energy, and good instrumentation that's bogged down by cringey lyrics and really odd songwriting choices. still though there are some legit good songs on here.

if you’re expecting this album to have any power or heaviness to it other than Bow Down, you’re going to be
extremely disappointed. There are 2 other heavier tracks deadweight and hurricane that capture their best sound
capability nicely. For the most part They took the path to mainstream rock with squandering their potential and
turning into pretty much the new Hollywood undead which is very upsetting to me because I thought lifelines was
such a fun yet cheesy metalcore album. They showed that they could write a really fantastic song with bow down
and I thought that they would focus on those aggressive aspects but they definitely didn’t and this album is a
major let down with some decent catchiness and moments of melody. This is target rock/metal.

Inconsistent sound-wise for sure, and there are a lot of songs that don't stick with me past the occasional listen every now and then, but they're not atrocious, and some of them are actually permanent fixtures on my playlists (Bow Down and DOA) or my go-to songs if I need to let out all my anger and rage

Some of these songs are actually all right. The problem is, they are offset by either oddly poppy or awful songs. Average. 2.4/5

TRAUMA isn't the first instance of an up-and-coming metalcore band incorporating pop. But it's the first time the pop/metalcore combo has caught my eye in years. Bow Down, Gasoline, and Deadweight are metalcore bangers through and through. Those were the three songs that drew me into the album. Normally I'd drop the album after I squeezed out the nuts-and-bolts metalcore, but the poppy tracks do not come off as contrived to me. The versatility just plain works.

I don't foresee this being anything more than an average release from an average band, but maybe they'll surprise us. Cautiously optimistic.
EDIT: Nah. They took a few more risks this time around, and it's much more organic from a production standpoint, but it's a pretty inconsistent album.
