The only standout part is the ending section of Reptile, and the other tracks just aren't that interesting enough to grant a higher score. Mediocre--some insulting--materials with some glistenings here and there. Would've given 3 if Smiles wasn't so offensively poppy and ruined previous four tracks

All I'm confused by is the soundoff saying it was "sort of boring but not offensively so" yet it was a 0.5 rating.
Like think what you want, but that doesn't really sound like the rationale of a 0.5 to me. But who knows, maybe slightly boring is worthy of such a harsh condemnation to some people.

First 4 tracks are amazing. Production, vocals and overall musicianship is on point, then "Follow Your Ghost", "Crush" and "Satellites" have some high points.rAs for Crush, I don't mind the experimentation, they've always liked to play around with electronic elements but I really hope they don't go that direction in the future...rI really wanted to review this but seeing the comments on SH's review made me change my mind real fast

This album promises so much on those first 3 tracks and then those other tracks clearly trying to reach a broader yet dumber audience. Its a pretty commercial unhearted decision, specially once you see zero effort in songwriting...nothing to say about technical aspects...and the dude has great vocals. Recd track - Reptile

As someone who has always enjoyed "other" djent or djent inspired artists, periphery have always being a band that sort of bothered me, mostly because of the piss poor vocals, this is proving to be the best work periphery have done yet, again mostly because the vocals are the best they have ever been (still not what id call "good") - having Mikee of Sikth is also a great thing!

I'm only vaguely familiar with Periphery's discography. I've heard the Juggernaut releases and Select Difficulty, but the only songs I really bothered to come back to were “22 Faces” and “Marigolds”… until this album. Despite another stupid album title, the music on Hail Stan is the best I've ever heard from the band. The first three tracks are simply amazing. From the 16-minute opener to the aggressive “Blood Eagle” to the even more aggressive “CHVRCH BVRNER” it's a phenomenal way to open the album. After that, the quality is dialed down a little as they kind of go in a few different directions, but overall this is one awesome release.
