| 4.5 superb | Chino smoking it up! | April 14th 19 | Oh boy...this comes out to me many times as if Deftones and Gojira had a blackgaze child, but I'm sure everyone would find their own vibes from this, across many genres, from punk rock to osdm. This sense of nostalgia does not compromise how fresh and modern this still sounds. Full of melody, memorable tracks, hooks, catchiness and highlights (rare in the genre). In love with it. Recd tracks: Portrait of Pieces;Horizon; Regret; Coma.

| 4.0 excellent | Fernando Alves | April 12th 19 | High quality blackened hybrid that efficiently explores various textures and influences throughout the album, and even though we can't find anything truly original, the sum of all parts is still quite interesting. Personal Highlights: Portrait of Pieces, Horizon, Coma and Adore.

| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | July 3rd 19 | Personality and dynamics aren't necessarily the first thing that come to mind when thinking of atmospheric black metal but Numenorean provides a ton of both on Adore. The record is atmo-gazy-melo-BM with hints of post metal throughout and this collection of approaches allows Numenorean to go in many different directions throughout the runtime. The band will pit tremelo black metal arrangements next to groovy, proggy acoustic jams and you don't even blink. Horizon is an excellent track that shows just what Numenorean are capable of with tons of different guitar tones, several varieties of vocals and beautiful songwriting. If anything can be taken away perhaps the band relies a bit too much on the rhythmic post riffs and could use a bit more of the black metal passages. In the end their sound on a whole is unique and a very tight mix of a wide range of influences worth a spin for any post metal or BM fan.

| 3.5 great | TheManMachine | May 29th 19 | Canadian blackgazers with breakout potential up the ante from their great-but-kinda-forgettable debut for sure. The flow and flexibility here accomplish it alone, but helps too when there's a well-defined hook driving half the trax. What they've got in range and remarkable loud/soft dynamics they kinda lack in genuine gnar and spirit, however. Voice variety capable+considerable but few moments I'd mark as truly moving. Drums too dominant. Post-y parts glimmery-n-pleasant yet too oft a bit prosaic-n-tiring. Half of it also seems like interludes, for better or worse. Title track sounds like black metal itching for a brightly lit stadium all on their feet clapping along and a bit like Aaron Lewis; drip and triumph and fury neatly segmented and lasting about two minutes too long, for better or worse.

| 4.0 excellent | gsboomie | May 12th 19 | I was pleasantly surprised by this album, it is pretty similar to Deafheaven, but still different enough to not be a rip off. I can't say I think this genre is exactly over saturated though so it doesn't matter that much. I love how this album can feel positive at times and extremely melancholy at others. If you like Deafheaven or atmospheric black metal in general, give this a shot, very solid album.

| 3.5 great | zaruyache | April 15th 19 | An odd pairing of post-black metal with melodic death and Gojira-style riffing. While it definitely opens up Numenorean's style to different songwriting policies, the heavy riffing often comes at odds to its more delicate black metal sensibilities, causing transitions between the two to feel very emotionally rough. An interesting fusion to be sure, but one that needs a bit more smoothing out.
