Songs like "Adam Raised a Cain" and "Badlands" introduce a colder, harsher Springsteen who now takes more cues from the Clash than Dylan. "The Promised Land" and the title track establish the working-class hero that would begin to emerge in his subsequent releases.

One of my favorite albums all time with one of the greatest songs of all time (Racing in the Street). This is Springsteen at his best. Nothing else in his discog tops this masterpiece IMO. Might review this in the future.

The Boss takes a long break after Born to Run because of a lawsuit and gathers his frustration and anger together in this album and creates one of his best. Pretty much every song here is enjoyable in its own way but my personal favourites are probably 'Badlands', 'The Promised Land', 'Streets of Fire', the haunting yet amazing title track and of course the immortal 'Racing in the Street', one of Bruce's best songs
