Don't know why this gets such a bad rep, besides the lyrics being sub-par at times. Otherwise it's awesome.

This is one of the greatest albums ever made. Simply put Fear Before has created a classic.

this is the best and only art post-hardcore. it's even better than classic "the always open mouth". when you listen to it, you feel like you're in the parallel universe

I loved this album, especially Treeman. Where you may say it seems weak, I find to be some of the strongest points. Lyrically at times it seems a bit tacky, but I think at times they try to portray a very basic message, like in "I'm Fine Today" almost as if their teasing someone. Overall, I'm a huge fan, and personally, I've liked each album more than the last. I will admit the first listen through this album I really didn't care for it that much, but you have to give it at least one more chance, and it WILL grow on you.

Disappointment comes in all shapes and forms. For Fear Before (The March Of Flames) it's in the form of a lame duck who use to be a mighty lion. You can find some hidden gems like "Fear Before Doesn't Listen To People Who Don't Like Them" but overall this was not the comeback album everyone expected from these experimental giants.

Why drop the March of Flames? When you just put out your best work, The Always Open Mouth, what are you thinking casting aside half of your name and then putting out a self-titled album saying "this is the definition of our sound" when there isn't one track fit to lick the boots of a"My Deer hunter". We may have always called your Fear Before anyways, but it seems like you left the best part of you when you dropped the March of Flames.

There's nothing to "get" about this album. It's positively horrendous in every sense of the word. This album was mailed to me by mistake when I ordered a large shipment of CDs from an online distro. I would have preferred anthrax any day of the week.

Fear Before attempts to impress with a more straightforward sound, but is plagued by a want to experiment. The end result is a sloppy, disjointed effort with terrible lyrics. However, there are some really cool tracks, including "Fear Before Doesn't Listen To People That Don't Like Them." This track changes tempos often and has industrial eccentricities. The chorus is catchy as hell, and the freak outs at the end show what Fear Before can do.

Yet another change in direction, for the worse, but it's still a really good album. More straight-forward than The Always Open Mouth. Interesting lyrics throughout the album. Highlight tracks are "I'm Fine Today" and "Get Your Life Together".

So this is one of the most suprising releases I have come across. With such low expectations it turned out to be one of the coolest things i've heard in awhile. They experiment alot with this album (including drugs). Last part not true, but its really great because they are pissing in the faces of their old hardcore fans which makes me happy. In my opinion the whole album rules and is definitley underrated. Vocals could use a tune-up because sometimes fall really flat at times but other than that it rules.

Completely different (and not as good as) The Always Open Mouth, but a great album none-the-less.
This album proves that Fear Before is full of talented musicians, that sometimes don't know what to do. but overall, most of the tracks shine.
