Wasn t expecting to like this. Also pos for the review and the bravery of comparing with RoN, I see the resemblance. Guitars and vocals are so damn thick and gotta love when they take those heavy riffs slowly and kinda doomy. Great use of non cheesy melo vocals.r

This is definitely their greatest album ever. The lyrics gripped my heart and everything sounds phenomenal. Some songs are brutal and beautifully captivating. Awesome.

Heavy band is heavy - tones are low, riffs are phat, and Phil Bozeman's voice still is massively ginormous. Apart from that good ol' Whitechapel, the moments that strike the most are in the fact the same we can find in any Deft-adjacent 2020s hevy band - guess the lads did earn their RYM "alt-metal" tag. The transitions from the hevy to the gaze are sometimes clumsy, but The Valley nevertheless stands out as their best 2010s release.

god damn i wanted to hate this so bad but i can't help but have a soft spot for it. they did a real good job with this one, kinda miss their old sound a lil but man this is way better than their last two albums by such a large margin its unfair to compare them.

This is so far beyond Whitechapel's other work that I'm suspicious. Excellent slice of late 2010s deathcore, and I'm happy to admit that the clean vocals add much needed nuance. They amplify the emotive aspects of the record and elevate Whitechapel's sound from pure chugging crush to something a bit more refined.

First of all, I must say that I love the cover. As for the musical content of The Valley, I like it overall but no more, I think it had a lot (much) better this year in Deathcore. It's especially the first part of the album that's worth it, otherwise the second part gradually runs out.

If this is the future of deathcore it could be an interesting scene. However, there's still some growing pains here. For every melancholy and gripping moment there is some uber heavy groovecore nonsense that just doesn't work that well. The heavy moments work good when they have actual melody, like in the closing track.
