Justin Timberlake has come a very long way since his time with *NSYNC, becoming not only an even more renowned R&B/pop superstar with a couple of excellent records to his name, but also becoming a solidly successful actor as well. Justified his first solo album after leaving the *NSYNC fold, shows the potential for what he'd eventually become, but also doesn't age particularly well either. Several songs here are staples of early 2000's pop like "Senorita" "Cry Me A River", and "Rock Your Body", and all of them are still pretty excellent pop songs. However, the other material here runs the gamut between decent to downright forgettable, usually backed by production so dated at this point that it's best to leave it alone. JT himself does a great job here; he's never lacked the singing chops, but his true ambition as an artist was yet to be realized. It's a decent enough debut, but it's inconsistency hurts it in the long run.
