I want to hate this, but I can't. For those of you who gave this a low rating, don't lie to yourselves. This album is catchy as fuck and has some hysterical/sick parts every now and then. That being said, everything else they've released has been pretty shitty.

An intensely polarizing album that lacks coherence and self-respect. The album has few very good tracks and quite a few awful ones. One moment they are talking about bitches and hoes, the next they're riding out an anthem for the forgotten and unwanted generation(s). A 3.5 for more sentimental reasons than otherwise. I very much like hollywood undead but there are certian issues I have with them and im sure everyone esle would agree with these issues.First off their music is vaulgar and the mask are not very nececary.It seems to me that they got the mask idea from icp being clowns and the fact they want a heavy gangster feel to their music as is emulated by alot of their songs such as, no.5, everywhere i go, bottle and a gun, or calafornia. The illusion is simply not there but, i have to say that the songs bottle and a gun, pimpin, young, and city are some of the best songs on the album just simly becuase they give more rythme and actual music instead of just an over whelming rap that is usualy pushed on you. Also there music has some-what of a repeditive feel to it like the alcohol they talk about is all ways 40's meaning 40ounces of liquer. They cant seem to put any specifics on the alcohol itself and and though the alcohol refrence is appriote in the setting the songs give there just needs to be more to it than 40's becuase lets face it 40's gets realy old realy fast.
The things I have enjoyed about the band is that the chorus in all the songs are rock formated and then it will break off into rap. They song bottle and a gun was one of their best songs on the album becuase it has a more laid back chorus and it had such a strong finish where the chourus had been blended with an unknown rock part instead of just the chorus again like in most of their other songs the part that was laid over and was actualy sung out like a rock song should be.The rock formated choruses are pretty much the only thing holding this group int he rock/rap catagory.But the bands music is very catchy and easy to have fun listening to. The music is very danceable and the songs california, bottle and gun, city, pimpin, and everywhere i go pretty much mad the album what it is

I'm sorry, but this seems to be a much worse version of Linkin Park to me. The rhymes are terrible, it's formulaic all the way, and I really did not like it at all. Even the production seems lazy to me, and the only part which caught my attention was the intro to the first song.

Another Rap/metal experimentation album that gets overlooked and judged as just another recycled composition. Rap, metal, and shock value lyrics is maybe something that has already been done but Swan Songs is just a very modern version of that if not ahead of it's time. I'm sure this album inspired alot of variety of music, with excellent capture of emotion with their Hip Hop, underground nu-metal, and excellent orchestration. While it stands out from others (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Korn) while focusing more on rap as each member showcases their talent with singing and create very catchy boy bandish' choruses.

While the band One Direction actually goes in a certain direction (One Direction), Hollywood Undead seems to have no direction at all on this album. This album goes from Nu-metal to comedic rap to pop singing. They sound like they are just trying to be "hardcore" in their music a lot of the time. Lyrical themes are pretty stupid, whether it is about hating on haters, booze, girls, partying, fighting, or just trying to be emotional, it all just seems very superfluous. Hollywood Undead is like ICP, Eminem, and Linkin Park combined into one band that adds their own little twist to the music.

If your looking for an album to party to but yet be sad to at the same time Hollywood Undead's debut album "Swan Songs" is the album you need. With party songs like 'Undead' , 'California' , 'Pimpin' ,and 'Everywhere I Go' and yet more serious songs like 'Young' , 'Black Dahlia' , 'City' , and 'Paradise Lost' its hard to say that Hollywood Undead can't shine all around. You'll get catchy hooks and nice verses in some songs , but then you'll have that song were you skip it as soon as it comes on.The album also lacks in sound quality , in some songs like 'Undead' it sounds like the lyrics are being smuthered by the beat. The album is pretty good when it comes to switching emotions , for example the album starts off with a rock and roll beat song 'Undead' with lyrics like "UNDEAD ! You better get up out the way , tommorow we'll rise so lets fight today , you know I dont give a f**k what you think or say , 'cause we're going to rock this whole place anyway" , compared to the lyrics to 'Young' a more serious song like "We are young we have heart , born in this world as it all falls apart , we are strong but we don't belong born in this world as it all falls apart". You have to say some of the lyrics really dont make sence or just doesn't relate to the song . The album is fair when it comes to length with a total of 14 songs isn't that bad. But it all goes down to the album overall rating , I give the album a 3 (good but not great) and they really don't have anything to defend it with. So if your looking for a 'I dont give a freak ' album buy it , but if your more down to the core with lyrics (like myself) just listen to the songs on Youtube. But I will suggest songs from this album : 'Undead' , 'Young' , 'Paradise Lost' and last but not least 'The Diary'.

The group known as Hollywood Undead have been influenced by the Nu-Metal Scene with acts like Slipknot, Linkin Park and Korn but does that actually turn out to be a good thing in the end? Not really. Songs like "Everywhere I Go" is just stupid and lot of other songs however songs like "Young" and "Undead" are really great songs. I just wished the rest of the album was politically an thought provoking as bands like Slipknot.

I have to admit, that I do actually find some joy listening to this album, but I think most of that reason is that I don't take it seriously, as I know that most of it is satirical (the emo parts) and the partying parts I can live with. Is it a good album though, not really. Musically nothing is special. Lyrically there is only so much depth to getting f***ed up and f***ing and definitely tires towards the end of the album. But as a joke, or a album to listen to when I'm drunk, it passes.

Shittiest lyrics ever, and I can't recall any of them being particularly adept at rapping. But you know what? These guys know that. They're in on the joke. And that's why it's still enjoyable to listen to. This album is ridiculously catchy, plain and simple. And that's why people listen to it. And why I like it, quite a bit.
