I can't help but be in awe of how far this album has come. Originally, I was quite disappointed with how the album tended to shift between the fast, Kelly-led, punk songs (which I loved) and the somber melodicism of McCaughan's tracks (which I couldn't really stand). However, in time this album has grown to not only be my favorite from the band's discography. A concept album of sorts, the tracks are split up exactly evenly between the two vocalists, and relay a collage of subtle-shifting emotions that encapsulate the spirit of youth and growing up. If ever there was a soundtrack to my adolescent years, I can safely say that nearly every song from this album would be on it. In short, it is stunning, beautiful, meticulously crafted, and a definite must-hear for anyone who yearns for the memories of youth and less complications.
