Mark Knopfler has a knack for creating music that one can easily listen and enjoy in a variety of circumstances, and Down the Road Wherever is further proof for that. The laid-back atmosphere that brings J.J. Cale to one's mind can be found here as well and Mark's blend of the blues, jazz, funk and americana is tasteful as ever. However, the duration of the album combined with some less successful tracks might make this LP a bit of a tiresome listen to some.
