surprisingly better than anything you could expect from an up-and-down, now 36 year old Wayne. Wayne's always had flows and hooks, but substance or cringy lyrics have always been his issue, and both of those are at a low for him on TCV. Worth a listen, even for the vaguely interested.

knee-jerk rating.rMona Lisa is a really nice surprise. Weezy managed to hold his own against Kendrick on a track that is SUPER Kendrick.

The V is a 4. Much better than either the Carter IV, and perhaps better than the Carter III. This thing has legs. Didn't like Dedicate or Uproar, but those were the dullest tracks instrumentally. It kept getting better

After a not-so-good fourth installment of tha series, Wayne came back with a much stronger fifth opus. His southern roots are more evident, especially in the last third where the gospel influences shine.

Honestly, I'm actually a bit excited for this one. The last few Carters have been hit-or-miss for sure, but the way Lil Wayne's been describing this new one, it seems like he wants to go for a more mature and introspective approach to close out the series. If that's the case, it'll be nice to hear some artistic growth from the guy
