This is one of the most contrived, boring, uninspired pieces of garbage I?ve ever had the displeasure of hearing. This band is so devoid of talent it?s comedic. Let this serve as a reminder that you literally need no songwriting ability at all to get an album produced.

Mad respect for sabotaging what could've been their best material (as CL) for the sake of experimentation. The slow songs are very bad. Isolation is one of their best ever. I'd say it sits at a solid 3.25.

Album title accurately describes the kind of person who will appreciate this the most. The compositions on here are multilayered and complex, and twist wildly from slow burners to barn burners, in just a matter of seconds. While it might take time to truly hook you, it's certainly worth the effort.

The band evolves beautifully on this album. The heavy songs hit harder, Lucero sounds even more versatile and commanding as a vocalist, and the ballads are much more fleshed out and well-placed on the album. Cult Leader expand their horizons without losing their seething nihilism and self-loathing. Might be a 4.5 in time, honestly.

Some really devestating riffs here as always, but most of the more tranquil material falls flat and the lyrics aren?t half as poetic as they aim to be.

In short, Cult Leader come through with what I can only describe as another solid addition to their discography. It?s not anything more or less than that, but I wouldn?t say it?s disappointing. The riffs overall are a bit more complex and Gaza-esque, and the record is a slightly bigger flex in the dynamics department than it?s predecessor. I can?t say I?m loving their more expansive tracks (much like the last record), but the heavier side of things is done very well. Thought it?s a bit padded out and not as immediate as their debut, it?s still worth your time if you want some seriously pissed sludgey hardcore. Favorites: I Am Healed, Curse of Satisfaction, Craft of Mourning, A World of Joy, Aurum Reclusa.

I admit that the contrast between the soft tracks and the heavier ones is a bit too much, but I think its only cause the heavy tracks are indeed heavy as fuck me twice. Still prefer their previous release still a really good effort from this pretty unique band. First 3 tracks (Heal ME is one hell of an opener) will smash you completely on heavy part. A Patient Man leads on the calmer tracks as my faves.
