It's very good, it's deliberate, it's very confident, memorable and full in sound. I didn't
expect it after a completely stripped-down stylistics of "Your Wilderness". The songwriting
is just amazing, the hooks are on par here with compositional depth. I still think that
Gavin is too good for them though, but he seems to be pushing their boundaries in the exact
right direction.
The lyrics is the only thing that I'm questioning here, it's simply generic, and it's not
about their themes (I'm not the one who condemns everything that touches the topics of human
relationships, it's quite a stupid snobism), it's simply about the way it's written. But
it's rather a cavil, it doesn't prevent this album from being one of the best I've heard
this year.
I can't really point out some definitely stronger points here because all songs are strong
on their own (minus a few acoustic pieces, although they do not feel out of place in the
album's context), except for, of course, "White Mist", it's a clear standout.
