22nd February: The Butterfly Effect - Final Conversation of Kings (post-prog, 2008)
Probably their best album - although I do feel that you could pick any of the three depending
on what your tastes are. This one is certainly the most refined, with most of the nu metal
influence of the early work gone, and the band now playing firmly within the lines of Aussie
post-prog. But in a way I think they might have traded away some of those great hooks for
better production, arrangements and aesthetics, and I do find that it’s missing a bit of the
catchiness of their early albums. It’s certainly got nothing on the major albums from other
artists in this scene, but for a mini-opus of their own, it’s not too bad. It’s a pity they
called it a day after this one, because I think a bit more refinement could have led to
something excellent.

(9/12/15) Hydroxybenzo stated all needed to be said about this album. This album is near progressive rock essence: blissfully flowing hard rock that doesn't fair as too abrasive to be off-putting nor too soft/pandering to be pushed aside. THIS is their magnum opus as of yet and hoped to hear more from them in the future, until I read about their most recent disbandment in August '16... At least this band went out w/ one hell of an album!

Complain about their genre change as much as you want, but this is easily their most consistent album so far.

Catchy and proggy, this album saw TBE take a sharp turn away from the road they were expected to take. Purists will tell you it should be heavier and now they're pussies but damn it if they don't know how to create a really mad song that'll stick in your head for days.

Firstly, I just want to say it was a well written review...I just don't agree on the most part.
I'm not a journo or critic so I'll save you all the bore. All I want to say is that I'm a big fan of the band, loved the last two albums for very different reasons as do I love this one for reasons all of its own.
The vocals are softer, the songs more sophistiacated, the words "prog rock" (respectfully) enter my head as I listen to this... At first I was a little taken aback but how different it was to how I expected but now I love it... and I think that anyone would, particularly a TBE fan.
Now I want to know, has anybody heard of Final Days of Autumn?? This is Clint Boge's "side project"... Completely different to TBE, and I'll reserve my judgement for now but lets just say that if 'final conversations of kings' was given the foot in the arse then FDOA will have its head chopped off.
