i can appreciate the concept of this album,
pain of salvations concrete lake album had a
similar aesthetic but this has much better
instrumentation and vocals. Edit: lol punked
this album hardly has a consistent concept and
the instrumentation isnt even comparable to
the pain of salvation album, i just saw the
album cover and two song names and drew the
comparison like the stupid ugly birb that i
am.

Mariusz Duda is incapable of recording a poor album. Riverside soldiers forward without its lead guitarist Piotr Grudzinski. The tone is different yet remains effective.

English Review :
Wasteland by the Riverside Band. This 2018 album contains 9 tracks for a total of 50:46.
According to Google Music it is categorized as Rock, so it is a progressive rock album. We
feels
several simililarities or influences with their contemporaries that is to say Opeth, Beardfish,
Steven Wilson especially with regard to the acoustic guitar and strumming that accompany a
Lake- like voice as well as instrumental parts with organs in the 70s, but quite dark, as well
as other bands like Pink Floyd, especially the David Guilmore solo guitar sound and feel, King
Crimson forsome RIFFS and some guitar techniques, such as ambience that mimic animals such as
whales or gulls. We also feel the influence of Tool for certain rhythms as well as Muse for
some keyboardRIFFS. In the track n.8 we feel Ennio Morricone influences and even trip hop
influences. I must say, despite the fact that the group is classified rock, I would have liked
more heaviness with regard to the guitar. We feel that there is a work on the sound level. We
try here to be minimalist, but to use effective sounds and it is successful. We think of the
keyboard descent ofthe first track. At the reverse feedback in the 3rd track. At the bell sound
in the 5th track. There is not much instrumentation but everything is in its place. The mix is
excellent. The use of the electric violin throughout the album is a strength. I love the
singer's low voice in piece 4.8, and 9 which reminds me of Leonard Cohen. In track 6, I love
the only long keyboard solo of the album and I appreciate the fact that the keyboard sound is
not a sound to borrow from another keyboardist of the same genre, too often Jordan Rudess from
Dream Theater . One element to improve is the Ah, Ah of track 5 and 6 similar to LeProu ...
this is too often used. The album is well worked, but a little bt repetitive. Often the pieces
are tasteless and lack personality.

Wasteland par le groupe Riverside. Cet album de 2018 contient 9 titres et 50:46. Selon Google
Music il est catégorisé comme Rock, donc il s’agit d’un album de rock progressif. On sent
plusieurs simililarités ou influences avec leurs contemporains c’est-à-dire Opeth, Beardfish,
Steven Wilson surtout en ce qui concerne les bouts de guitare acoustique et de strumming
accompagner d’une voix à la Lake ainsi que des parties instrumentales avec orgues très
année 70, mais assez sombre ainsi qu’avec d’autres groupes comme Pink Floyd, surtout en ce qui
concerne la guitare solo à la David Guilmore, avec King Crimson sur certains RIFFS et certaines
techniques de guitares, par exemple les sons d’ambiance qui imitent les animaux comme la
baleine ou les goélands. On sent aussi l’influence de Tool au niveau de certains rythmes ainsi
que de Muse en ce qui concerne certains RIFFS de claviers. Dans la pièce n.8 on sent des
influences d’Ennio Morricone et même des influences trip hop. Je dois dire, malgré le fait que
le groupe soit classé rock, j’aurais aimé plus de lourdeur en ce qui concerne la guitare. On
sent qu’il y a un travail au niveau sonore. On essaie ici d’être minimaliste, mais d’utiliser
des sons efficaces et c’est réussi. On pense à la descente de clavier de la première pièce. Au
reverse feedback dans la 3e pièce. Au son de cloche dans la 5e pièce. Il n’y a pas beaucoup
d’instrumentation par contre tout est à sa place. Le mix est excellent. L’usage du violon
électrique tout au long de l’album est une force. J’adore la voix grave du chanteur dans
pièce 4,8, et 9 qui me rappe Léonard Cohen. Dans la pièce 6 j’adore le seul long solo de
clavier de l’album et j’apprécie le fait que le son de clavier n’est pas un son emprunter à un
autre claviériste du même genre, trop souvent Jordan Rudess de Dream Theater. Un élément a
améliorer ce sont les Ah de la pièce 5 et 6 à la LeProu... cela est trop souvent utilisé.
L’album est bien travaillé, mais répétitif. Souvent les pièces sont insipides et manquent de
personnalité.

I'm not sure how I feel about this album yet, the score is likely to change. This feels more Lunatic Soul than Riverside, gone are the big beautiful guitar riffs of ADHD and it seems a more atmospheric production, ala LS.

I'm a big Riverside fan but this album disappointed me tbh. rThis album was beautiful in a sense of mourning Piotr their passed guitarist. rBut musically wise I didn't enjoy it.
