5.0 classic | Squidgoat | August 24th 18 | Murder By Death have returned triumphantly to their classic concept album format with a new masterpiece including timeless themes of love, loss, and longing as well as meditations on our ecological reality and even timely nods to the current American political climate. An instant classic.

0.0 | ThePaleKing | August 28th 18 | I absolutely love this album, but I am really not liking the whole concept album thing. I think these songs work
beautifully as individual tracks, and are certainly thematically connected but do not amount to a full-fledged epic
narrative. To force them into some space-western-or-whatever narrative box, based only on that one paragraph
from their Kickstarter page, which is a vague, broad sketch of the album’s stated premise, really limits the
interpretive freedom that is the very essence of enjoying music. I’m wondering if anyone here can go track-by-
track and explain:
1) From whose perspective is each song being sung?
2) What is the setting, and where in the narrative arc does it occur? (An answer would inevitably involve
determining whether or not this is a linear narrative.
3) What is happening in each given song, and how does it advance the story told in the preceding song? What is
its larger significance to the larger concerns of the narrative?
I won’t rate this album until I‘ve lived with it a little bit longer, but I’m curious to see if anyone will take a shot at
answering my questions. I will be impressed by any effort, even if I don’t necessarily agree with it!

3.5 great | dbizzles | August 24th 18 | A solid album from one of rock's most underrated bands. Though the whole album was enjoyable, it did leave a bit to be desired though I can't pinpoint what it is.

4.0 excellent | spanndrew58 | August 24th 18 | Another great MBD album, the opening and closing tracks both stood out as the leaders, but not a bad track on this.
