it, well, yeah that's pretty sensible this record is fucking weird and kinda hilarious at points but there's a heart
behind it to be appreciated that no one else and no other album really has. i gotta respect it for that, it's definitely
ye alright, it holds its own unique identity among kanye's already eccentrically diverse discography, while not
feeling too forced and keeps itself in check when it needs to. it's kanye making music for kanye, just somehow more so than the last; what the fuck else did yall expect?? AYYY NONE OF US WOULD BE HERE WITHOUT CUM.

76/100. Great production, infectious beats, good flows. However, at only 23 minutes, this album was lacking in any real profundity or memorability, and many of the features (looking at you Cudi) were just so so. Overall a great listen but imo not as good as DAYTONA.

I think that, conceptually, this album is really interesting, the lyrics reflect the theme of bipolarity and mental health. The songs are not remarkable, so I wouldn't necessarily revisit it, but I consider it a good listen.

Kanye finally makes album where addresses his biggest flaws as an artist - ego and bloated fliller tracks. Ye is really good even if I think "Ghost Town Pt 1" is overrated and worse than "Ghost Town Pt 2" from Kids See Ghosts.

"Ghost Town" is one of the best things Kanye has ever made. Should've been put on Kids See Ghosts instead. KSG is far superior and was the best album Kanye made/helped with in that summer.

Kanye West has basically done it at all at this point in his lengthy career. Ye arrives as one of his more introspective releases, touching on his marriage, his children, and his recent controversies. These sparse seven songs are all fantastic - some ranging from grandiose, others are BANGERS, and then there are a few sad boy ballads. As with almost all post-MBDTF Kanye releases, there's some bad lyricism, but most of it is pretty solid. While some of the Wyoming releases don't feel like an album, Ye feels like a complete journey with a great opener and a solid closer. Also...Ghost Town...so yeah. Phenomenal album, I think.

Kanye's cumbersome ego-wielding is obviously nothing new, and unfortunately neither is his penchant for spouting hogwash. Thing is, this same kuh-razy cranium of his once led to some of the most fascinating artistic veering of the century. Present day however it's just horrendously hard to stay invested in the guy -- if "it's been a shaky-ass year" he certainly assisted in the shakin'. Beats and production shine no doubt; even if he does smuggle sections from way-smaller artists who he really coulda/shoulda shelled out to. But a bulk of this is a bit of a self-serving pseudo self-pity bore: bragging bout the drama he himself created, a gaggle of gag lines, topical namedrops just cuz, women appreciated only if they stick around through your shittiness or become your daughter. "I said 'slavery a choice', they said 'how ye'", Ye whines. Sadly, they're right. Kudos to the guests; particularly 070 Shake, whose troubled triumph may be the apex -- even if it is damn difficult to bleed via stove-burn.

At first ye felt really disappointing due to the fact that there just isn't much content and it doesn't have that grandiose feel that Kanye has been so successful at providing with his best work. Also, it goes without saying Kanye's ego and antics have reached a level where things have gotten a bit more uncomfortable supporting him. It is basically impossible to see any hint of the man that made College Dropout in Kanye now. That being said, most of the album is quite solid musically with solid guest spots supporting Kanye and some memorable lyrics/hooks here and there. It feels very up close and personal and that is one of the biggest strengths of this album. More mellow and minimal beats and arrangements with the clear production allows for that to happen. The album feels a bit too one note as a whole and once again, if you don't care for the Kanye madness/ego saga it is hard to care for much of the lyrics. Also, while Violent Crimes is musically quite nice, the theme of the lyrics and some of the lyrics are just bad; "I only learned to treat women as people once I realized my daughter will be hot some day and men will be after her," ugh.

For a change, Kanye West gained his spotlight and his space in the radios with more controversy.
His new album comes out of nowhere, after he returns to Twitter talking a lot of shit without any
nexus. In "ye", West's unique qualities are based on his impeccable production and some melodies
that are very strong and engaging. The lyrics have always been the weak of it, more by his ego and
his absurd notion of life and universe. Even so, it's cool to have people like him in music. Not
mentioning his life outside music, Kanye West has contributed a lot to Hip-Hop and will continue
to do so in favor of quality music.
Edit: yeah, i was wrong in some arguments, this is lit.
