Listening to this puts me in a weird position - I think Beacon of Faith might be better than
Bloodmines, but it also has Baptists sounding like Converge more than ever...so what, exactly, are
Baptists?

With the release of "Beacon of Faith", i already understand that Baptists is a band with no identity of their own. The guys can't even hide the size of the influence Converge has on their sound. Influencing is not the problem, the mistake is when the band creates a work almost equal to who they mirror. Nothing against it, i find the record very fun because i consider Converge one of the bands that i like the most, but it is a pity to see bands with potential to play out what they can really do for the genre.

Straight up, this is the best this band has ever sounded. Take the mid-career converge and thick his hero is gone influence and finish it off with some healthy atmospheric doom and sludge influence and even a little noise rock and you?ll have this. Nick?s drumming still showcases he?s the best in heavy music right now but the riffs are stronger and more frantic, the lyrical themes are heavier and more thought out, and the vocals sound 10x stronger and more varied than they ever have. This shit fucking rips guys.

this is some excellent nastiness. I get some converge vibes but I get influences like full of hell and eyehategod in equal measure. To say this is run of the mill is pretty duuumb.

This is just run of the mill metalcore. I didn't even realize I was four songs deep until I looked and noticed the track name if you want a clue as to how similar all the songs sound. Nothing really stands out here. It's certainly not a bad album, but it's not doing anything really innovative or unique here other than the vaguely doom element you get from the growls at times.
