3.5 great | Trey STAFF | January 6th 19 | It?s no secret that people seemed to dislike this album when compared to her debut. I don?t get where all the hate is coming from. Maybe it?s because this album isn?t nearly as energetic or overtly pop as her previous release? Personally, I like the fact this album is more of a quiet, moody, release that kind of trades a bit of sass for introspection. If her debut felt like an angry, confident, break-up, then this feels like the morning after when doubt has started to creep in. Take Me to the Disco is a chill, pop album full of lush melodies, powerful hooks, and rhythmic beats. What it?s not is the overt girl-power pop of the previous release (which is also really good, by the way). Take Me to the Disco proves that Meg Myers is human too, and doesn?t always have to put on a brave face.

4.0 excellent | Guillaume | March 25th 23 | "Constant" is the best track here, very moving, but "Numb", "Some people", "Little black death" and "Funeral" are powerful too. Meg's best album...haunting.

4.5 superb | InFiction | December 28th 18 | As indicative by its "throwback" album cover, Myers is trying to capture a very niche early 00's sound, and she does it largely without fault. She has a dynamic range, straddling the line between delicate melodies and aggressive bangers. I love this album.

1.5 very poor | TheManMachine | November 9th 18 | Seldom will I say this, but I kinda wish this actually took me to the disco -- instead we're stranded in the endlessly dully dour with diddly-squat for diversity or character. Traits include strained made-for-TV angst, some of the most foreseeable quiet-loud formulas and obnoxiously explosive choruses this side of 1995, wringing said choruses dry, vox and song-paces so narrow+monotonous it's laughable. Looking back, many-a trait that were there on her last one. But long gone is the creeping carnality turned to threats of murder and the hook-stuffed shark-chomp miracle quirk of "Lemon Eyes" and any attempt at pep. Also good for a laugh are guest vox provided by one "Leggy" on the aptly titled "The Death of Me".

3.5 great | chtrenne | September 17th 18 | I like this a lot. It's decidedly uncool-- like Alanis Morissette meets Madonna? Something in that arena? It feels dated. Maybe what was cute in 2012? But I like that. Everyone else is giving that 'Rihanna voice' with the breaks and stuff, and here's this chick giving emo vocals. Good for you, girl.

3.5 great | Misterfresh88 | July 27th 18 | I?m honestly feeling this album. My previous exposure to her was hearing ?Desire? played a lot on a local alt
rock station and thinking her sound was a bit edgier and better than your typical singer/songwriter, but the album
didn?t blow me away. I think this one is more diverse and artful, mixing some interesting styles together. Still a
few duds on this one, though.

4.0 excellent | honeybadgerwins | July 25th 18 | This is actually one of my favorite releases this year. On repeat since it came out and it might be even better than debut which I also love a lot.
