A friend sent me "Fine Again" during a time when I couldn't feel and it made me feel, I started downloading their music and their music was the sound track to my life. I related to their songs and lyrics so well that listening to them become a need to live and be happy...it's what got me to want to start a band and create the same feelings in others...this album saved my life.

If you're in the mood for some fairly straightforward rock, then by all means do check out this album. For the most part, this is a very accessible album; it's something interesting to pop into the radio during a road trip, or listen to while working on odds and ends around the house. If you're looking for something deeper than straightforward rock, however, you're going to have a harder time. There's plenty of emotion on this album, but most of it is so contrived that its hard to relate at all. "Fuck It" makes a laughable attempt at eloquence, but fails miserably, and "Driven Under", as well-intentioned as it may be, is yet another failed attempt at moving beyond the straightforward rock edge. That's not to say that the band always fails, as "Fine Again" is a great, lively piece, and the version of "Broken" that appears on this album sans Amy Lee is simply superb.

Radio rock bands are a dime a dozen, and Seether happens to be one of the more famous groups involved with that tag. That being said, they're not half bad on their debut. Is it radio rock? Most certainly so. Is it well done? You bet. From lead single "Fine Again" and its evocative guitar line and lyrics, to the strangely catchy "Sympathetic" to "Broken"'s gorgeous chorus and nice acoustic guitar, much is well crafted here. This comes to a head on "Fade Away", a mish-mosh of all of the aforementioned songs' qualities with the added sweetness of an addicting bassline. Yes, elsewhere we find some homogenic songwriting that really kills the vibe the good songs had going, but a few, like "69 Tea", are decent enough to keep the ball rolling a bit further. Overall, it's a radio rock album, but with some well done added flair that deserves a listen.
