4.5 superb | cloakanddagger | July 26th 18 | Still can't get over how god damn heavy this is. The Agony Scene have gone from being a fairly good metalcore band to becoming a force to be reckoned with in extreme metal. Mixing melodic death metal with blackened death metal they have created their most ferocious album yet.

4.5 superb | heck | July 20th 18 | 11 years after releasing what was then to be their final album, The Agony Scene come back more savage than ever with their magnum opus. Disgustingly ferocious and oppressively heavy, I'm not sure this can even be called metalcore anymore. This is much closer to blackened death metal, and it rules.

4.0 excellent | Middle18 | August 4th 18 | Always loved the fierce energy they bring so was delighted when I heard this baby drop. On first listens it's their most ferocious release yet and will take time for me to tame it but they are on fire as always

4.0 excellent | RexKwonDoCarrey | August 4th 18 | able to pull themselves from the depths of nowhere! (The Agony Scene) have seemingly picked up right were 2007's "Get Dammed" left off at and where the direction of the original 2003 album was going to begin with hence traces and drips of "The Darkest Red" the material of this, their forurth full length effort "Tormentor" 10 tracks at 35:32 - introduction track does a good job of a brief atmospheric awakening and seemingly picking up speed directly into a ferocious fury of swirling thrash licks. small tempos revisited of a past regenerated ghost Following a pretty good pattern of what you might expect very reminiscent of the time in which they came from. (not a bad thing, actually pretty good!) All in all pretty solid effort, the song "Like Weeds In The Field" rreally gets the mood pump in.r

3.5 great | Robert Davis | August 2nd 18 | Consistently powerful and punchy in its delivery, with sometimes added atmosphere to make songs such as "Hand of the Divine" all the more visceral. It's almost like the Gothenburg scene of the early 00s but with a modernized thrust up the proverbial hole.
