Whether you like Ghost or not, their biggest accomplishment is that bands like these guys bring new fans to rock and metal and help those genres remain popular. In terms of music, this is the album of theirs that I enjoyed the most probably due to the strong Blue Oyster Cult elements and the medieval aura because of the subject matter. All in all, a great effort.

I really try, but i can't see music in Ghost as many people see. They can be pioneers of a new style, or even a celebration of what was good in the 70's and 80's, but other than that, it's just a pretty boring band that adds nothing to the music world. The songs always sound the same, with the vocal appeal and some instruments that do not marry well in the final product. What is the reason behind this band that make them so celebrated with each release?

For sure this is not what I expected, but damn it's good. Excellent blend of pop and rock with 80's feel is placing the overall sound of this record somwhere between Abba and Blue Oyster Cult. I like how they (or rather he) are not afraid of change, and each album has been able to bring something new.

Ghost do their best Fight impression and release a half amazing and half unlistenable album. Slightly disappointed but they were never gonna top Meliora anyway.

On first listen, this album is a 2 hit wonder: Rats and Dance Macabre are obvious standouts in a sea of forgettable tracks. But much like a plague of rats overrunning a city (fuck you, this analogy is going to work) this album goes from Rats alone to quietly and consistently overpowering the listener. Sax solos, triumphant, arena-rock song about rotting corpses, the roiling opening of Faith to the ghostly longing of Life Eternal - this album is about so much more than the highlights. The only misstep is the incredibly cheesy, repetitive structure of Pro Memoria.

PREQUELLE is easily the most commercial and least metal sounding album that Ghost has produced to date. It?s the sort of music that a younger, less developed palate might be willing to savor. It doesn?t seem that I?m really the target audience here as I have difficulty swallowing something that is often as faceless and generic as the Nameless Ghouls who perform this music. Ghost?s thinly veiled subversive agenda makes this even less palatable to me. This is just flavor-of-the-week level music all dolled up in scary costumes and trying to sell Satan to less discerning music fans.

Not what I really expected/wanted from Ghost following the excellent Meliora, but it's grown on me since its release. Has a weird mix of some of my favourite Ghost songs (Rats and Faith) and some of my least favourite (Pro Memoria and See The Light) and is probably still my least favourite album of theirs

The album has great moments, both in its disco persona and rock persona. "Faith" is badass, easily one of Ghost's heaviest songs. "See the Light" is hard rocking and has a fantastic double meaning. "Witch Image" and "Rats" are examples of glorious '80s cock rock. This album slaps.

I gave it a 3.0 to start, but the more I listen to it, the more I WANT to listen to it... No, HAVE to listen to it. I've woken up humming it for days now. It's not better than Meliora, but it is pretty great!
