Hopesfall really just came out of a decade plus long hiatus and quietly dropped AOTY on us like it's nothing. Arbiter sees Hopesfall firing on all cylinders, melding Magnetic North sized massive hooks with The Satellite Years-esque spacey atmosphere and heaviness. The nods to their past albums are supplemented by meaningful growth in every sense of the word, the guitars ebb, flow, swell, and skyrocket into the stratosphere while Jay Forrest gives his most commanding vocal performance to date. The closest contemporary I can think of is Gates- Bloom & Breathe, an incredible album in its own right that Arbiter takes the formula of to dizzying new heights. Welcome the fuck back.

It's like a machine algorithm generated a "sputcore classic." Insipid mishmash of every post-hardcore
band you loved as a teen set to songwriting that flounders about, searching for a purpose.
Extraordinarily dull and homogeneous music. Avoid.

A 4.9 average with 10 votes was probably a
good sign especially after actually hearing
this full throttle wrecking ball. The lyrics
match the quality of the music too which is
nothing new for Hopesfall. The blistering and fresh guitar leads coming off of Jay's screams are the best parts of the album. They try a lot of
new things that seem to all succeed in the
songwriting and production.

Definitely a solid record for sure, but being honest there isn't really all that much that particularly blew me away. They've established a solid atmosphere for this album (as per usual) with great instrumentation and a decent lead vocal performance, but it all feels a bit one-dimensional at times.

Possibly one of the most average records I've ever heard. The songs blend together to the point of being indistinguishable, the choruses are unmemorable, the harsh vocals sound tired and thin, and instrumentally this could have come from 25 other post-hardcore bands. Must just be the new sputcore flavor of the month.

Typical 2000s post-hardcore, this Arbiter. Extremely melodic but still with that post-hardcore punch, passionate both lyrically and musically, and some atmospheric layers a la Deftones (have you heard of them???). Not the most original release, but the production is top-notch, and the songs are well-constructed.

I?m conflicted about this one! On one hand I found some of it boring while I also heard some of the best material from 2018. I loved the chorus in Bradley Fighting Vehicle so much. Like unbelievable. But found most of the album tough to get into. Solid 3 tho
