Idk why you bother showing up in my lists. My minimal house recs are for people with refined sensibilities and stable lifestyles.
What I'm saying is: you won't find anything there to soundtrack your next ketamine overdose.

I prefer Jaar's funky techno over his microhouse endeavours. This feels more than pure experimentation; this feels like a city. A city that's kinda sad and grey, but still decides to embrace everything as it comes. If I stop being a pretentious cunt, I could also say that some tracks (4, the last 3) do drag a bit and do not match others' greatness (especially the first 3 tracks and Cityfade).

A record that is hard to resist putting on. Between the constantly building and developing beats and the truly excellent use of sampling, AAL has created a Deep House album that has hypnotic dance-able beats, catchy and addictive vocal hooks and a great wealth of content that reveals new nuances upon almost every listen. When effortless replay-ability is combined with high energy and beats that make you want to move, you have something special. The hypnotic and repetitive nature of the record makes it one that you can put on in any situation (work, dance, relaxing) but that also doesn't mean it isn't intricate and worth very attentive listening. Jaar makes very good use of his tools and always seems to have a subtle shift on each beat or sample that both keeps things fresh and heightens the intensity of the transitions once they finally do come beat to beat. Also, Jaar really has a beautiful arsenal of snares and drum sounds on that spectrum. The variety in the drum sounds in the beats is just phenomenal. Not a single track to miss here but 'Some Kind of Game' is an instant classic.

Covert compilation under covert alias of household-name electro-man Nicolas Jaar, which left unexposed perhaps coulda comfortably sunk into the colossal online sea of anonymous house music. Lotsa leets will groan about old-hat singing samples and approachability I'm sure, but hard to deny that this goes deep or how fun the dang thang is. Paramount is the balance struck between expertly and sketchy -- its soulful funk and warmth met with dusty lumps and the weird, a vivid timbre mixture and legitimate swagger weaved with offhandedness and static. True to style it'll lag fairly far from the finish of its hour-plus runtime; but right it's a compilation, take in small doses and skip around to what really tickles your fancy. Top Tickler for me has gotta be the invincible piano trance and gospel chops of "Some Kind of Game" a mere ten minutes in, also momentous is the one right before it which echoes something that kinda sounds like "I feel awesome". And so will you.

Fantastic, sublime, abysmal, transcendental and philanthropic. Another record that i listened to today without seeing the genre and without having any previous expectations. House music, like the whole immersive universe of electronic music rocked me in a very intriguing way in recent months. I've always been against electronic music for not really consuming the content, but over time i've been feeling what's really appreciated in this type of music. Classic.
