2.5 average | JPAC | July 21st 08 | This album is a definite step backward for Sam. The tracks all seem to run together as they all have a vaguely sixties sound to them and nothing makes any one of them really stand out. The biggest problem is the lyrics, which are very cliche-filled and lacking, especially when compared to his other works. Having said all that Sam Roberts still knows how to write a catchy 3 minute rock song and the album isn't all bad (it's just not all that good).

3.0 good | PistolPete | March 15th 11 | Sam Roberts needs to learn that when you intend to have 12+ tracks on an album, you need to ensure listener's attention is kept the whole way through. "We Were Born..." did that, "Chemical City" was short and sweet, yet here he trudges along with a few bursts of speed scattered throughout, but trails off near the end. I also want to see him progress more for the next album, he is becoming stale and predictable even though his music maintains its gracefulness and hooks. Recommended Tracks: Love at the End of the World, Lions of the Kalahari, Sundance (one of his strongest to date).
