A huge improvement to their EP "After Dark," filled with cool riffs, great singing, and a sick keyboard. My only problem is there really isn't a distinctive theme that the band sticks to. Otherwise, this album is nearly flawless.

My musical taste must have changed a lot over the years, cause I honestly believed that Scary Kids Scaring Kids were spectacular. I was really looking forward to just rocking out to what I thought was one of the best post-hardcore albums at the time, and whether I was just confusing these guys with another band or what, I wonder why I thought so highly of them. SKSK isn't bad what-so-ever, but I never remembered them whining as much as they actually do. There are a few songs here that just tend to drag itself through the run time, and when the energy was picked up in the smallest dose, it was brought down again by another four minute story of love lost or attempted suicide. I'm really not too sure, but I enjoyed the majority of this without rating it blindly so to speak.

This used to be one of my favorite albums, but looking back on it and listening through again it is definitely far from perfect. I've played around with some of the keyboardists' parts, and not only do they remain in the same key but are often inverted versions of other songs by the band. Not to mention this guy is no Janne Wirman. Otherwise the guitar riffs are decent and the vocals are nice once they grow on you. 3.5/5
