4.0 excellent | Bedex | November 13th 21 | On this one Turnstile refine extremely well the packaging around the songs, but until the second half struggle with the songs themselves. Indeed the key selling point here is the interludes -whether it be the excellent soulsey (yes) interludes on 4 and 12 or within tracks- and other additions the band made to their sound. They don't all work though with some added vox not really working for me, and the tracks often feel very short. 1 is a the darker and less fun than usual mid-good track, 2 has a great epiano intro that transitions well but some of the weird new vox, 3 has a great interlude 2/3rds into the track but otherwise continues this darker vibe that I don't think fits the band too well. 5 is the first track that feels truly fun and after a nice intro offers fat riffage and clean vox that are good to see albeit a bit cliche. 6 is a slightly overextended, functional dumbfunstile track that would work better live but does have some nice added keys. 7 goes into faster hxc and has an excellent transition into the main riff altho it's not their best riff at first. 8 has an excellent intro and one of the best riffs yet, making the dark vibe work a lot better. 9 is the only bad track of the second half (/album?) with vocals taht sound a bit like a7x. 10 was on the preceding EP and is still a very fun RATMesque/hxc bop. 11 is a dope track with great riffage despite the meh added vox, and 13 closes on one of the best Turnstile-of-the-mill tracks with excellent riffage in places and fun added vox. An LP showing the band blooming to maturity in album construction and mixing in new influences a la Refused. 3.8

4.0 excellent | EXSCHISM | April 30th 23 | Perfect mix of chunky, bombastic, heavy hardcore meets punk rock sensibility, alongside a catchy nature that brings both a moshing intensity but also the ability to bop hard. Seeing them live was a treat, the energy of the show was beyond what most hardcore, punk or metal shows bring, and I go weekly. Can totally understand where some people wouldn't get into this, it isn't your typical extreme aggression, or the pure grit that's the norm but for me it's insanely infectious in the way that a lot of really great punk rock bands of yesteryear were. Step to Rhythm still their best.

3.9 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | August 18th 21 | Rad and ultra dynamic hardcore punk incorporating its alt metal influences in an engaging - ie: poppy - way. It rips and bangs, but one has to lament the lack of space given to the band's "experimentation" - it's cool to add new ingredients to your formula, but you gotta leave these ingredients enough time to shine, which isn't always the case here - that "Bomb" interlude could have been extended beyond 24 seconds. Still super duper fun.

3.5 great | TheManMachine | April 7th 18 | Akin to tourmate Angel Du$t's mergence of friendly-pit hardcore with boyish pop sensibilities and 90s rock, only Turnstile don't really take the complete leap. Still chiefly tied to an ol stock mosh-n-shout, their cleans are hit or miss, interloping touches are sorta tacked on: block clackin' and rapid-fire piano bit here, cute lil handclaps and elevator music morsel there. But a pithy jamboree with an approach I appreciate? Indeed.

3.0 good | cjbizzlebizzle | April 4th 18 | Upbeat and aggressive NY style hardcore with vibes of Fugazi throughout. Turnstile impress when they have the speed turned up and the vocalist yelling but fail to accomplish as much with some of the tracks that branch into more diverse instrumentation and more clean vocals. The true exception to this is Moon which really hits the nail on the head for what they were going for outside of the total hardcore tracks. High Pressure is one to remember but beyond that there are a lot of good songs but nothing that will change the lives of anyone that is seasoned in hardcore.

4.0 excellent | aaronrkc | February 28th 18 | I still love the shit out of Turnstile and recognize that it was time to experiment a bit, but it feels like they tried to sample so many different sounds that it came off as indecisive. When the first singles and videos dropped it sounded like they were committing to a more psychedelic style, but with the garage rock, soul, and electronic bits added to some of the other songs, it's a little all-over-the-place. That's not to say there aren't some really great songs on here though, but the consistency they had on "Nonstop Feeling" isn't quite present.

3.0 good | Risodo | February 25th 18 | "Time and Space" is the first album i listened from Turnstile, and my current reaction is total disappointment. The insertion of new instruments, moments and moods throughout the album is clear and well valid, but it does not convince. The instrumental and production quality is almost perfect, but it does not save this record from just being regular.
