4.5 superb | madeintheusa | February 6th 18 | There are four reasons I listen to music. Three of these can't be mentioned, but the fourth can: to completely get out of my head. But not in the way you think. I've listened to Pink Floyd's classic albums so much that they are beginning to loose some of their mystique. For unadulterated pure power Black Sabbath does it for me (most of the time) although their songs are so familiar that I've lost a bit enthusiasm of late. Led Zeppelin are the greatest band of all time - apart from maybe The Beatles. Okay, The Beatles are the greatest. Well...not every single song, but quite a few except, I'm beginning to listen to the ones I didn't like because I've over liked the ones I used to like - get me? When I first heard Fly Away by Kravitz, I was in awe (that's when I first heard it). Oasis' Wonderwall was fantastic (once). I've spent 20 years in the desert and haven’t come across another Oasis - until now. I came a wondering out of the desert and found The Arcana. This wasn't a sudden thing. I heard Ghostwriter; liked it, listen to it and listened to it, got bored and forgot about it. A year later I decided to have another listen to it and remembered what I liked about it and discovered that I still thought it was good. But The Arcana had released another album by this time; so I gave it a shot. I played it half a dozen times - I wasn't sure. I played another half a dozen times - not bored yet. To cut a long story short: it blew my mind! Simply, it's dynamite! From the first to the last song it has restored some of my faith in music today. Okay, they'll never be a Beatles or Led Zeppelin, but as 21st century music goes, I think I have found something to occupy my mind and my other three vices for a pretty long while.
