all in one fell swoop.
Edit: Not quite as bad as I expected, but this band is pretty much just above average alternative
metal now without Austin Carlile and Shaley Bourget.

Albums out and it's fucking awesome. So glad Aaron and the guys exceeded every expectation I had.

A step up from Cold World, which isn't hard to do. Guitar work is actually decent but the songs are predictable and lyrics are the same cliche lyrics I've heard a hundred times before.

After returning from the previous nu-metal approach with then unclean vocalist Austin Carlisle and bassist and clean vocalist Aaron Pauley (who joined in 2012 after leaving Jamie's Elsewhere) stepping up to the plate as lead unclean vocalist as well, Of Mice & Men makes a generic and unmemorable album that will just appease their fanbase, but will be lost to the empty void of this genre where every song since the mid 2000s sound alike.

This is a step-up from "Restoring Force", and CERTAINLY from "Cold World". What's odd about this one though is that when the band tries to go 'heavy'...it actually doesn't really work out in their favor. Though, songs like "Forever YDG'n" and "Warzone" are really great - that's about it for the 'heavier' songs. When they decide to go the alt-rock route with "Vertigo", "Back to Me", "Sunflower", and "If We Were Ghosts"...it actually is some of their best sounding stuff - given current conditions (I still prefer the lineup/sound/writing style of The Flood over any of this). If you liked Jamie's Elsewhere mixed with the songwriting style of Of Mice & Men...maybe mixed in with some modern rock influence...you'll probably dig this album.

So far this sounds like a genuinely less interesting version of Nickelback's last effort. Boring production, weak tones, samey vocals, an awful cover of Pink Floyd's 'Money,' generally just a poor effort to hold on when they should probably let go. Hardly even a husk of what they used to be, not looking forward to this.
