2.5 average | figurehead of "built different" EMERITUS | July 24th 18 | The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or from Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to Guard Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won.r

3.0 good | manosg EMERITUS | January 20th 18 | The band's biggest influence is Led Zeppelin and they certainly don't hide that while their singer does - for the most part of the album - his best impression of Robert Plant. However, the songwriting is solid and the album is quite fun if you don't mind the fact that the overall product is derivative. Enjoyable but with limited replay value.

1.5 very poor | robotmagician | November 14th 17 | making a record that’s sounds like it should have come out 50 years ago isn’t necessarily a bad thing. however,
when it’s derivative to the point of sounding plagiarized... well, it’s bad.

3.5 great | RemedyLane99 | December 8th 20 | Damn, I do understand why you're harsh on "Anthem of the Peaceful Army", but not why with this EP. It's from their DEBUT
Year. You know what Led Zeppelin did at this time? They ripped off some blues patterns or songs, even got sued later. And
when I say "rip off", I mean "rip off", not like the awesome and official cover / development of "When the Levee Breaks". I
think, there's more own work behind "From the Fires" than "Led Zeppelin I". And: GvF tried a Sam Cooke Cover which didn't
really go wrong. Due to using appropriate standards for a young band, (whose members are obviously Zep fans, yeah!)
this EP is a bit above average.

3.0 good | Antonius | September 8th 18 | With Plant-ish vocals and a Zeppelin-esque approach in music style, GvF offer no originality with their EP. Albeit the fact that they manage to recycle the sound of their idols in a brilliant way, they need to build a solid defence against the flaming balls of criticism thrown at them. Taking out the Zeppelin factor from the equation, From the Fires is a very good start for such a young band. There is lots of energy and hooky choruses that may create a vibrant atmosphere. However, a lot of improvement is required both in terms of writing style and music as they are drawn against unnecessary cliches and repetitive patterns. I expect that in their forthcoming albums they will try to find their own style and identity, otherwise, they will lose the game. Recommendations: "Black Smoke Rising", "A Change is Gonna Come", "Meet On The Ledge"

1.5 very poor | Ripper2020 | April 21st 18 | How Greta Van Fleet got titled as ?the saviours of rock? in the music media, being indistinguishable from the sea of Led Zeppelin-inspired bands, remains one of the many great mysteries of the world.

3.0 good | StrizzMatik | April 3rd 18 | While I can't deny the singer is basically the lovechild of Robert Plant and Ann Wilson and has some incredible pipes, the Zeppelin worship is pretty overpowering and almost distracting, and they cross the line from adulation to musical theft a LOT (just like their influences, really). Great potential here, but they lack the originality needed to stand out when bands like Rival Sons do what they do with much more variation and attitude. Considering these kids are just shy of drinking age, I expect some pretty big things from them in the future.
