3.0 good | manosg EMERITUS | February 5th 18 | Saxon is one of the most honest bands in the history of heavy metal. Once again, what you get here is solid yet unspectacular no frills heavy metal that lacks spectacular highlights or extreme lows. The album's short run time contributes in making it an enjoyable listen and there is also a touching tribute to Motorhead in the form of "They Played Rock and Roll". Overall, a decent LP but I seriously doubt I will be jamming it in the future.

4.5 superb | Mitch | January 6th 22 | 4 years later and Thunderbolt still holds up as one of Saxon's most consistent and varied records. Absolutely killer in every regard.

3.0 good | marf1300 | February 10th 18 | Solid classic heavy metal. The album isn't exceptional, but these tracks will be fun live. Only two elements on the album stand out to me: 1. Byford's voice has aged better than any other NWOBHM singer. 2. Hegg (Amon Amarth) does growls on "Predator".
