Dead Can Dance is certainly a decent and enjoyable effort, but its more derivative sound compared to DCD's later works makes this a less rewarding listen than what would follow it. Hints of what would come are present here, especially in some of the Lisa Gerrard-fronted songs, but overall the more simplistic songwriting and arrangements here lack the dark, captivating drama for which DCD are best known.
