| 2.0 poor | manosg EMERITUS | February 3rd 18 | I cannot deny the fact that this sounds like the product of serious labor but for the most time it sounds so polished, harmless and overproduced that it loses all its fun. Yes there are some good melodies here and there and this is quite enjoyable at times but the vocals are incredibly/annoyingly melodramatic and the overall feeling I get is like this is the soundtrack of a middle eastern love story. In addition, most tracks sound so harmless like they were prepared for the Eurovision Song Contest or like this is cheesy ethnic music performed with metal instruments. Those vocals though, damn...

| 4.5 superb | Zoomoo318 | January 26th 18 | Excellent release, not up to par with the masterpiece that is Mabool though. Only 2 or so low points here and they are only so low. The loss of Yossi has (thankfully) not dampened their sound at all.

| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | March 1st 18 | A long and winding journey that traverses the depths of symphonic, proggy, folk metal with Isreali influence woven into just about every second of the album. More often than not, at any given moment you can just close your eyes and what you are hearing is a rich layered piece of beautiful sounds. Skimming through the album after a listen reminds you of how many damn good pieces of music exist on this album. The symphonic elements don't even begin to sniff cheese (those background choirs are magnificent at times) and the folk influence is truly majestic with strings, acoustic guitars and non-traditional metal instruments making up many of the tracks. This sound is huge and bold as are the intensely political, philosophical lyrics. As a whole it definitely drags on just a bit but all in all Orphaned Land once again come out swinging with a complex, rich concept album. Extra shoutouts to the vocalists (all of them) on this album, so many good melodies and symphonic backdrops on that vocal track. Extremely rewarding on those revisits.

| 2.0 poor | Risodo | February 5th 18 | The Folk mix with Progressive Metal does not really please me at all. The production and the instrumental work, even if praiseworthy, do not animate me and make me want the end of the album as soon as possible. I do not have much to say about it, but my assessment does not match the quality of the record or the genre. What happens is a proper block for this type of style.

| 3.5 great | Panzerchrist | January 29th 18 | Pretty solid in spots, but especially over-indulgent in others (In Propaganda's nasally lead vocal melody meandering on for far longer than anyone cares, Yedidi's distinctly ethnic but not especially well-composed intro riff), 'Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs' certainly does a lot right, but because of how mid-tempo and excessive the album can be it can make it difficult to parse. An improvement over 'All Is One', but any chance of another 'Mabool' seems decidedly in the rear-view mirror.
