Last (and only) personally checked instance of this band was Plague of Conscience in which these Englishmen were fairly interesting, while exerting the power/thrash practice. Judging only from the reviews of the follow-up album, The Fateful Dark elaborated further up the same alley, which makes the complete turn in style herein, all the more unexpected. Utter musical makeover is not a bad thing per se, as long as the music is worth it, which is marginally the case here. Savage Garden have blatantly adopted a more commercial "arena" metal/rock, shedding almost all their traits developped in the past. The sole irony here is the much improved vocal delivery with respect to previous releases (Plague of Conscience).
