just when you think this band are done bringing the excellent riffs another one rips you a new one in a unique display of bombast for a post-black metal band to pull off and it makes it so ridiculously enjoyable and addictive. it doesn't attempt to bring the alcest-brand beauty or whimsy and it doesn't get stuck on many of the forced post-rock cliches of its contemporaries. instead harakiri for the sky forges the sounds into something far more aggressive, melancholic and infectious and though it isn't too far apart from what they've already been doing for a few albums now (albeit in a short amount of time), it streamlines the sound into their strongest set of tracks and production and despite the track lengths, more often than not it flies by thanks
to the fact they don't rely on repetition as much as they used to. can't ask for much more than that. cut out the occasionally cringe-worthy lyrics and we're on to a genre standard setter.

Very catchy and melodic post black metal that's surprisingly energetic for the genre. Even the vocals, despite the rasp, are almost easy to listen to. The challenging part of this album are the song lengths. Every one of these songs could have been improved with 2 or more minutes shaved off each one. As they are, it's easy to kind of zone out after the first few minutes and not realize it until the sound suddently stops.

balanced mixture of beautiful melancholic ethereal post-rock soundscape and destructive dense sombre black metal create such a epic flow of progressive atmosphere and extremely cinematic dynamic heaviness

"Arson" is a brake on the band's innovation and breadth, but it's not even close to be a insult or misjudgment. The album is full of spectacular elements that really fill many spaces that their left in the last works. "Aokigahara" can be considered the masterpiece of the band, but the last record of the Austrian folks is intense from the beginning to the end. The duration of the record is almost imperceptible after you catch yourself being immersed in the sound quality imposed by the eight songs.

Punkified vocal shouts, melodic blackgazey instrumentation, and like twenty minutes of unneeded runtime. I'd rather just listen to A Pregnant Light because while Harakiri's vocalist now kinda sounds like Damian Master, at least Master knows how to be concise with his releases >_>
