Huge, cinematic and melodramatic symphony that doesn't skip frolicky moments either, that should be known for a lot more than the big TUUU TU TU TU TUTUM, although it *is* the highest highlight. It's good that it comes in the last movement though as the piece gets to build up to it, and it is anticipated at every corner. 4.4

Dvorak lied. This is a symphony for THIS world! The second movement is part of me at this point.

A piece I can only come to describe as epic. From the first moody and very emotional movement, to the two slower middle ones, and then of course the last huge bombastic ending, Dvorak portrays an array of emotions. The contrasting nature of the first movement, and specifically the trade-offs between the string and wind sections were breathtaking. The two middle movements did not sit as well with me, and although the bombastic closer picked the form back up a bit, it still didn't reach the heights of the opener.
