5.0 classic | ellisdavis | August 4th 09 | Flight of the Conchords are a Grammy Award-winning New Zealand comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as "Formerly New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo accapella-rap-funk comedy folk band.
They are taking the world by storm with their mixed genres of music including Bowie a homage to the curious singer and Robots an electro inspired look into the distant future-the year two thousand. In there self titled album Flight of the conchords there are fifteen fantastic tracks including an intro Foux du Fafa and an outro Au revoir, The most beautiful girl (in the room) and Hiphopopotamus vs Rhymenoceros. It's not suprising that the real humor of the band is in the lyrics. Such as " You're most definitely the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, with a kebab"Âť or "Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae" they are truly original and extremely funny.
You may of seen Jermaine Clement in the movie Eagle VS Shark where his dull approach to lifes problems willl make you feel like you are watching Flight of the conchords all over again. When you first hear the weird and wonderful songs you wonder how could they possibly put this into a TV show but the two New Zealand boys manage to pull it off.
It is a real shame that the cd missed out some of the songs including "If thats what your into" and "im not crying" But we all hope they will make a cd that includes the songs what didnt make it onto this cd!!!!!

3.0 good | PKmonkey0401 | November 17th 14 | I can't help but smile when I listen to these songs. Hiphopopotamous vs Rhymnocerous is one
of the best rap songs ever written, and if you believe Bret and Jemaine, it is the foundation
from which all other rap stems. Jemaine, especially, manages to put a lot of emotion into his
lyrics. When he claims his lyrics are bottomless before awkwardly trailing off, or gets
irritated at a guy named Steve, or quickly and somewhat embarrassingly finishes the second
part of the line: "Yes, sometimes my lyrics are sexist/ But you lovely bitches and hoes
should know I'm trying to correct this," he makes it funny simply by the way he says it.
Other tracks I enjoy include the soulful "The Most Beautiful Girl (in the room)," which is
pretty much easy listening with a grin, and Mutha'Uckas, which is funny and, toward the end,
utterly absurd. The "editing" gets so intense you can barely make out what's being said, and
somehow, that's awesome. "mango... /f'...r'k...'k/ and pop an apple in his ass, yeah!" It's
weird. It's funny. It sounds decent. Overall, I like. :D

3.5 great | Tiberone | December 4th 09 | While the Flight of the Conchords' television show may not believably convey the sheer hilarity of their live performances, it more than makes up for it with its delightfully deadpan characters and dialogue. Without the context of the TV show or a live audience, though, not all of their material packs the same punch. But fans would be wise to pick up this release for fully fleshed-out versions of the songs they know and love. Strangely, the only track that truly disappoints is the well-known "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros." Its new lyrics don't match up to the ones they replace, and the lyrics left in place just don't sound quite the same as they used to. I guess this is just a band that truly has to be seen to be believed.
Standout tracks: Inner City Pressure, Robots, Business Time

4.0 excellent | Rudy K. EMERITUS | September 16th 09 | While there’s something to be said for Flight of the Conchords’ live records and actual concerts, which is one of the funniest things I have been privileged to attend, their debut album does manage to translate a good portion of their irreverent humor into the studio. The songs, as usual, don’t disappoint, running the gamut from anti-war sex anthem “Ladies of the World” to the funky bedtime jam that Marvin Gaye has tried so hard to perfect, “Business Time.” Who can resist seductive statements like “two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven?”
Most of the songs benefit from the added instrumentation and production, with “The Prince of Parties” sounding like the Beatles if they stayed in India longer and were a comedy duo, and “Boom” is much more understandable and palatable with Bret’s clarified vocals and the faux-reggaeton production.
The only disappointment is the utter lack of new songs. While a compilation might be a necessity for casual fans or newcomers, Conchord lovers will already know pretty much every song on the disc, and one would’ve thought with the exposure the two have been getting, they would’ve jumped on the opportunity to release new material. But you can’t begrudge what they’ve already created, which is pure comic gold.

3.0 good | jazzvortex46 | August 2nd 08 | Not bad. Lots of funny moments but I definately prefer them live as opposed to their studio work. Only problem is that for every phenomenally funny and original song there is the occasional one that I just don't get or don't care for that much. Standout favorite track on the album to me would include Robots, Most Beautiful Girl, Hiphop/Rhymenoc, Ladies of the World, Bowie, Leggy Blonde. Check it.
